David Beckham Extends His Best Wishes to Messi’s First Final with Inter Miami, Joining the Photo with Lionel Messi and Rodrigo De Paul, Sparking Playful ‘Bodyguard’ Remarks

In Miami, David Beckham stood beside Lionel Messi and Rodrigo De Paul while his followers joked about being his “bodyguard” on his most recent Instagram photo.

The two Argentine legends met together in Miami with the co-owner of Inter Miami. The trio later took a photo together and Beckham posted it to his social media accounts with the remark, “Dos campeones del mundo (Two world champions) Lionel Messi, Rodrigo de Paul [and] Inter Miami.”

De Paul, who is regarded as one of Messi’s closest pals in the Argentina locker room, had no reservations about traveling across the Atlantic to Miami to meet up with his captain. De Paul had earlier made light of the fact that he would fight for Messi. He even charged at the referee on one occasion when he thought the former Paris Saint-Germain star had been elbowed during a friendly match against Honduras.

De Paul has always been outspokenly protective of Messi, both on and off the field, which has led to jokes from supporters that he is the “bodyguard.” These comments appeared underneath Beckham’s Instagram image, and one even asked that Inter Miami sign the “bodyguard” to a contract.
