Manchester United trail Nottingham Forest 2-0 after just four minutes at Old Trafford.
Despite spending big on players like Mason Mount, Andre Onana, and Rasmus Hojlund, Erik ten Hag’s United has had another disappointing start.
They were fortunate to come away with a 1-0 win against Wolverhampton Wanderers in their first match. They put in a poor performance last weekend, losing 2-0 to Tottenham Hotspur in North London.
Ten Hag would have hoped for a much improved performance from his players against Forest, who are looking to build on their 2-1 win against Sheffield United last weekend.
With only two minutes on the clock, Taiwo Awoniyi scored after a brilliant counter-attack that began with a corner for Manchester United.
Forest doubled their lead just two minutes later, thanks to defender Willy Boly, who headed in after Morgan Gibbs White’s brilliant free-kick.
However, United’s defense was questionable, with midfielder Casemiro allowing Boly to head in uncontested.
Ten Hag is off to a nightmare start in front of a raucous Old Trafford crowd.
Former Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha commented on the match on BBC’s Final Score: “How have Forest got a 2-0 lead inside 10 minutes at Old Trafford?”
“We discussed earlier how runners off the ball pose a threat to United, and Forest used them to score on the counter from United’s own attacking corner.”

Fortunately for United, Christian Eriksen scored after 17 minutes to bring his team back into the game.
United will end the afternoon in 14th place, having only three points from a possible nine. This is not the start United fans expected.
