LeBron James knows what Team USA needs to do to win another Gold Medal.
James and the rest of the U.S. squad will begin play at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris within the month, and he stressed that individual sacrifices will need to be made by the team of superstars.
“We have so many great players but we all have to make sacrifices,” James told reporters. “None of us are looking forward to going out and trying to carry the team like we sometimes have to do for our respective franchises.”
James continued by saying that the team has a collective goal to take the victory.
“We want to play for each other,” James said. “There’s 11 other guys beside me that I want to play for and vice versa. Our only goal is to win a Gold Medal for Team USA.”
James knows what it’s like to win Olympic Gold, as he was on the 2008 and 2012 Gold Medal squads. He also understands what it’s like to fall short, as he was on the 2004 team that took home the Bronze Medal.
This could very well be his last chance to play in the Olympics as he will be 43 by the 2028 Olympics. That, combined with the loaded roster the U.S. will take to the Paris Olympics, should provide extra motivation for the 20-time All-Star to add another accolade to his stories basketball career.
