Kylian Mbappe ‘crashes Real Madrid’s website’ with new £160 shirt orders taking ‘up to six weeks’ as fans flock to buy new top bearing the France superstar’s name ahead of official unveiling

Kylian Mbappe is already proving to be a hit with Real Madrid fans after shirts with the club’s new superstar name began to sell out in record-breaking time.

The France captain is set to be unveiled as a Madrid player on Tuesday, July 16 after signing a free contract following the expiration of his deal at Paris Saint-Germain.

Mbappe’s attention quickly turned to club duties following France’s semi-final elimination from Euro 2024 after being beaten by Spain with supporters clamouring to buy his new shirt.

His many years in Paris saw Mbappe wear the number iconic number seven shirt but he has been given a different digit with Vinicius Jnr refusing to vacate the number at the Spanish giants.

He has instead been given the nine top – the same as Cristiano Ronaldo when he once joined from Man United – and online orders are already wreaking havoc.

Fans have flocked to buy replica shirts with Mbappe’s name emblazoned on the strip

Madrid’s official online store crashed when fans raced to order an Mbappe shirt and huge delays are affecting purchases, as reported by Marca.

An authentic jersey with the World Cup winner’s name etched on the back will set punters back a cool £160, with orders expected to take up to six weeks to be delivered.

In contrast, shirts with the name of Jude Bellingham or Vinicius Jnr have been given a delivery time of less than a week.

A mass turnout is expected at the Santiago Bernabeu next week for Mbappe’s first official appearance as a Madrid player since completing his move following one of football’s longest-running transfer sagas.

The 25-year-old has been a target of the European giant for years but previously chose to stay at PSG when the reigning Spanish top-flight champions made a bid several years ago.

Mbappe eventually decided against extending his stay in France in favour of securing a dream move to Spain’s capital where he follows in the footsteps of footballing greats.

Mbappe is likely to make his unofficial Madrid debut during the club’s summer trip to the USA, where they will play friendlies against AC Milan, Barcelona and Chelsea.

His competitive debut should come in the UEFA Super Cup final against Atalanta in Warsaw on August 14.
