Tom Cruise was linked to Sofia Vergara in 2005, but now that she’s single again he’s
reportedly thinking of making a move.
Last month, the America’s Got Talent judge separated from her husband, Joe Manganiello. Joe and Sofia were engaged after six months of dating and married in November 2015. Supposedly, this is positive news to Tom as he hopes to rekindle his relationship with the actress. The two dated for a few months back in 2005.
This isn’t the first time that Tom is going after a Latina superstar, rumour has it that he was trying to court Hips Don’t Lie singer Shakira. But now it seems he wants to chase after “the one that got away,” as he told close friends.
A source told Heat: “They do have that history already, even if it was more of a brief dalliance than a fully-fledged romance.”
“They had a special time together partying in the Hollywood hills and having a blast. Sofia wasn’t really giving out the signals back then that she wanted anything long-term, so it petered out in a totally amicable fashion and they remained friends.”
“It’s always eaten away at Tom that he dumped Sofia and chose Katie,” the source said, referring to Katie Holmes, who Tom married in 2006 and ended up getting a divorce from in 2012. The two have one daughter together, Suri.
Supposedly, the Modern Family actress “checks almost every box for Tom.” The Mission Impossible star claims that Sofia’s beauty and success are what attracts him to her, and Tom is convinced the two would be the newest Hollywood power
couple, sources say.
It’s unsure if Sofia is as adamant to rekindle her romance with Tom, as sources say: “Sofia’s going to let her hair down and party for a while, then she’ll throw herself back into the thick of it and start dating once the divorce is finalised.”
Tom will also have to fight off a list of potential suitors, as the source added that Sofia’s “phone is already blowing up with DMs from eligible guys, which she’s flattered by, but not taking too seriously.” But the actor is known to not shy away from a challenge.
