Nature is amazing when it comes to tiny, adorable creatures that are hard to take your eyes off of.
In Japan, you might be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of this fluffy cotton candy-like long-tailed bird. It’s only about 6 inches long, but it’s incredibly active, which makes it easy for it to find prey.
2. Flying Squirrel
This cute squirrel also comes from the Land of the Rising Sun. They are about 8 inches (20cm) long. Flying squirrels have webbed front and back legs that help them glide gracefully between branches. However, these squirrels are not very active during the day, usually coming out to forage for food at night.
3. Pika Rabbit
Pikas inhabit the mountains of Asia and South America. As cold-loving animals, they cannot live in places with temperatures above 25.5°C.
4. Snow Ferrets
Don’t let their small appearance fool you, they are formidable hunters. They are found all over the world except Australia, Antarctica and surrounding areas.
5. Sand cat
Sand cats typically live in dry, rocky deserts. They are widely distributed in the Middle East and the Arabian Peninsula.
6. Blue-footed Bobby Bird
This is a seabird that lives in the eastern Pacific Ocean. The bright colors on their legs depend on their age and fade over time. Females tend to mate with males who have brighter legs.
7. American pine marten
The American pine marten lives primarily in the forests of North America. Although they spend most of their time in trees, they are excellent swimmers, as strong as any other animal.
8. American Panda
Raccoons are mammals native to South America, Central America, Mexico, and the southwestern United States. They tend to curl up into a ball when they sleep. This may sound cute, but it is actually a way for them to protect themselves. When provoked, they can be fierce fighters with powerful jaws and sharp fangs.
9. Short-eared elephant shrew
They are small mammals (about 15cm long) found in Africa. Elephant shrews are very fast, reaching speeds of up to 28.8 km/h. Despite their modest size, they are more closely related to elephants than to mice!
10. Hairy Cow
This is a breed of cattle originating from Scotland, first recorded in 1884. They have long, thick fur and consume up to 70kg of grass every day.
11. African Falcon
This bird lives in eastern and southern Africa. Measuring only about 20cm in size, it is the continent’s smallest predator.
