Tom Cruise surprised fans as he appeared at the end of the BAFTAs on Sunday night to present the prize for Best Film.
The Mission: Impossible actor joined Star Wars legend Carrie Fisher on stage at the prestigious event, to complete The Revenant’s domination of the night as it claimed the top gong .
In pictures taken after the ceremony – which saw him pose with cast and crew from the artistic blockbuster – Tom appeared relaxed and very happy to be there as he joked with Leonardo DiCaprio on the red carpet.

The youthful-looking star was sporting a dapper tuxedo complete with a bow tie, and he posed next to the Oscars favourite after handing him and director Alejandro Gonzalez Iñarritu the award for best film.
Cruise struck a pose with the filmmaker too as the crew of the film celebrated their very successful night.

The Revenant was also recognised with awards in categories for sound and cinematography , and Leo thanked co-star Tom Hardy as he accepted the gong for leading actor.
He said: “I am absolutely humbled and honoured. I have to say I have been so influenced by so many British actors throughout the years.
“Tom, I want to thank you for your fierce loyalty as a collaborator and a friend. I could not have done this journey without you.”
