During a visit to northern England on Tuesday (local time), a royal supporter asked the Prince of Wales about his wife and three children. The fan asked William: “Do you mind if I ask how your wife and children are?”
In response to the inquiry, William kindly replied: “Everything is fine, yes, thank you. Everything is fine.”

After William’s reply, the woman seemed to want the Prince of Wales to elaborate on the health of Princess Kate Middleton: “I mean Catherine?” and William replied with a short, polite and adequate answer: “Yes, we are all fine”.
Prince William returned to public duty as a member of the royal family for the first time since his wife’s cancer diagnosis was revealed nearly two weeks ago. Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told the Sun shortly afterwards that William’s appearance was a sign that the royal family was returning to normal life.
Princess Kate Middleton shocked fans around the world on March 22 (local time) when she revealed that she had cancer – a disease she discovered after undergoing abdominal surgery in January.
The Princess of Wales said in an emotional video message at the time: “In January, I had abdominal surgery in London and at the time it was thought that my condition was not cancerous. The surgery was successful. However, tests following the surgery showed that cancer had developed. As a result, my medical team have advised that I undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.”
“This has of course come as a huge shock, and William and I have done everything we can to process and manage this privately for the benefit of our young family,” the Princess of Wales continued in her statement. “As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery and to begin treatment. But most importantly, it has taken time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is right for them and to reassure them that I will be fine.”
“We hope you will understand that, as a family, we now need some time, space and privacy while I complete my treatment,” the Princess of Wales continued. “Work has always brought me a deep sense of joy and I look forward to returning when I can, but right now I must focus on making a full recovery.”

Following her video announcement about her health, the Princess of Wales did not attend the annual Easter service (which took place on Sunday) at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor with the rest of the royal family. The Prince of Wales, William, as well as their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, were also absent from the event. According to British media, the family of five celebrated privately at their Anmer Hall estate in Norfolk.

To this day, it remains unclear exactly what type of cancer Middleton has or what stage of the disease she is in. The Princess of Wales’ health battle coincides with King Charles’s own battle with cancer. Following their cancer diagnoses, both were forced to step back from public duties, leaving the British Royal Family in crisis at the time of the announcement.
