“Agent Kees Vos ɾaises concerns aмong Man United staff with his infƖuence on trɑnsfers foɾ Rasmus Hojlᴜnd and Sofyan Amɾabat”

Concerns have been raised by Manchester United employees regarding Erik ten Hag’s agent Kees Vos’ increasing participation in the transfer process at Old Trafford.

According to Mail Sport, Vos’ Sports Entertainment Group has taken over as United’s go-to agency for negotiating player purchases and sells as well as offering unofficial guidance on the transfer market.

The fact that Nigel Ten Hag works as an analyst for SEG is another sign of the intimate ties that exist between the team and the company.

During a hectic transfer window, when United spent £178 million on four new players, SEG worked on player sales and signings. Vos was a frequent visitor to Old Trafford and the team’s Carrington training facility. Their efforts comprised:

acted as Rasmus Hojlund’s agent during his £72 million transfer from Atalanta; the Danish striker joined the firm a month before he signed with United.
representing United in negotiations with Fiorentina for the loan signing of Sofyan Amrabat, with the possibility for United to make a permanent signing of the Moroccan international at the conclusion of the season.

Zidane Iqbal, a United midfielder, was sold to Utrecht in June, just two months after joining the agency from rival CAA Base.

Other agents who feel they are missing out on transactions because of SEG’s connection to Ten Hag have taken notice of its growing prominence.

Despite these criticisms, SEG is a well-known company with 600 athletes on its roster. The Netherlands-based organization has also forged strong ties with Manchester City when Pere Guardiola, a prominent Spanish agent, joined the business 18 months ago and brought his brother Pep along as a prominent client.

SEG, the top Dutch agency, was instrumental in luring Robin van Persie, Memphis Depay, and Daley Blind to United in the past, but their role at the club had dwindled until they arranged the deal that resulted in Ten Hag’s hiring as manager in May 2022.

SEG are not mentioned once among the 45 intermediary transactions involving United that the FA revealed between February 2022 and January 2023, which covers every contract that the club issued through that time.

Ten Hag has previously come under fire for his propensity to prioritize signing players with whom he has previously collaborated. He left Ajax last year and was followed by Lisandro Martinez and Antony.

Goalkeeper Andre Onana and Amrabat, two of United’s key acquisitions this summer, had respectively represented Ten Hag at Ajax and Utrecht.

Vos is a regular face at United's training ground and employs Ten Hag's son as an analyst at SEG

Vos had no personal role in discussions with West Ham regarding Maguire, according to a source at SEG. Additionally, they noted that, as a multinational corporation, they participated in more than 300 transfers this summer, with the United transactions accounting for around 1% of their total revenue.

According to United sources, it is common for elite clubs to have close relationships with specific agencies because their key personnel often benefit from these contacts in the transfer market.

United stated that their senior leadership is at ease with the situation despite recognizing that the strong relationship with Vos had become a talking point.

A Manchester United official declined to comment.
