Exclusive: Rasmus Hojlund’s First Training Session at Carrington Amidst Injury Concerns Draws Attention

Rasmus Hojlund, a forward for Manchester United, practiced with his new team on Wednesday amid worries that a back problem could prevent him from playing the first six games of the 2022–23 season. The kid signed a five-year contract with Old Trafford on Saturday, officially completing his transfer from Atalanta BC.

However, due to a problematic back injury, Hojlund won’t be able to play in Man United’s 2023–24 Premier League opener against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday night.

According to some reports, the 20-year-old could be sidelined until the middle of September since the Red Devils are unwilling to risk his fitness given the seriousness of the issue.

Despite this, Hojlund was able to participate in Wednesday’s training session with Man United because the team disclosed that he is now pursuing an individual program.

According to a statement on the English team’s official website, “Our new man was not involved in that game (against Lens) or Sunday’s meeting with Athletic Club in Dublin, having sustained a minor injury during pre-season training with Atalanta.”

He is anticipated to be sidelined for a few weeks due to that problem, but the club is managing his recovery through an individual program.

Rasmus worked out on the grass at our practice facility today as part of that, and he is healing nicely.

Although there has not yet been any official word regarding the timeline of the problem, it is anticipated that he would definitely miss the team’s opening two matches against Wolves and Tottenham Hotspur.

When asked about his skillset by MUTV during his formal unveiling, the Denmark international described himself as “physical,” “passionate,” and “fast.”

“I’m fast, passionate, and physically active. We also played a lot off the sides in Atlanta. As a wide striker, you might say that build-up and hold-up play are important, but when I play for my country, I’m more of a target nine, an inside-the-box striker, he explained. I hope I can fit into the system even if the roles I’ve held in the past are undoubtedly two distinct kinds. I came here because I believe I can, so now all I need to do is listen to what the boss has to say.

“[With Denmark] it’s more like in the middle of the six-yard box, working with the small movements and just concentrating on scoring goals, being the target no. 9,”

I, therefore, believe that I am always confident, both in good and terrible times, but there are undoubtedly two different roles I have been playing.

I like to think that I can score goals both ways, though. Even though I have a left foot, I like to claim that I can also finish with a right foot. I prefer to use my left foot to dribble over my right, but either foot should work for completion.

Holland has played for Copenhagen and Sturm Graz in his professional career. In 34 games for Atalanta last season, he scored 10 goals and recorded four assists.
