Even many former employees who worked under Diddy said they were not too shocked or surprised by the rapper’s scandal, because they had previously witnessed his unhealthy attitude and behavior in the workplace.
Diddy is the chairman and CEO of a chain of businesses and brands operating in multiple fields of entertainment, fashion, music,… including: Bad Boy Worldwide Entertainment Group, Sean John, Combs Wine & Spirits, AQUAhydrate, The Blue Flame Agency, REVOLT Films and REVOLT MEDIA & TV,…
Five former employees of Diddy’s companies told The Daily Beast that the rapper’s abusive and violent tendencies extended to his work environment, where they were so toxic that they had to resign or were fired without knowing what they did wrong. The employees agreed to speak anonymously, fearing retaliation or pressure.
Workplace Violence
Ms. A. – a former employee of Sean John’s company recalls the dark period when she worked under the rapper. That was the time Diddy grabbed her by the collar, scolded her and threatened her when she disagreed with the rapper on creative ideas.
Diddy will always think his opinion is the best and most correct.
“He didn’t like the fact that I disagreed with him, and he didn’t want to hear my point of view,” she recalled . “Soon after, in the middle of the meeting, Diddy yelled and yelled at her, demanding that she listen and respect his opinion, because “you have to know who you’re talking to.”
“I started looking for a job right after that moment,” she recalled. “I just didn’t want to be there to deal with that kind of treatment. You have to really idolize him and look up to him as an icon. I didn’t want to do that kind of job ,” Ms. A. shared.
The remaining 4 employees also shared that they were afraid of rapper Diddy’s attitude and behavior in the company. Accordingly, this star can glare and shout loudly, use uncultured words, and even tend to be violent towards employees, regardless of gender, if they do not satisfy or oppose his opinions. In the company, Diddy’s decisions are always the best, always right and no one is allowed to argue.
A female employee B. shared that women or weaker people would be oppressed and become the target of Diddy’s bullying at the company. She recalled: “He cursed a lot of words that were not appropriate for office culture, such as ‘f***’, ‘I will fire you right now,'”
Fired for… looking at someone strangely
Another former employee also shared with The Daily Beast that up to now, when recalling the reason for being fired that Diddy gave, he is still upset.
According to Mr. C., after waiting for hours, Diddy finally arrived at the meeting. However, instead of apologizing or giving a reasonable reason, the rapper stared at the employee’s attitude. When looking into Mr. B’s eyes, Diddy accused Mr. B of having a bad attitude, expressing his disappointment that Diddy was late, and that was the reason for the rapper to fire Mr. B.
Not stopping there, another former employee of Sean John recalled the way Diddy managed companies and employees that made many people afraid. That is also the reason why many people are afraid to meet or discuss work with the rapper. “The turnover rate at the company is very high. A marketing director can only last 6 months,” Mr. D. shared.
The working environment “drains” energy, turns employees into toxic people
Another male employee reflected on the toxic work culture at Diddy’s company. That is, you can become a place for the rapper to vent, scolding in the middle of the office. Mr. E. recalled: “If he is not happy with something that you may not have done but he thinks you did, he will continue to attack you .” The way Diddy discussed work also made many employees feel like they were being mentally tortured, coerced. This turned the office culture into a “culture of fear.”

In addition, Mr. E. also shared that the work pressure is very high, he often works from 7am to 11pm. When going to work, everyone has to be careful with every little thing. You even have to face the situation of colleagues harming each other to gain the boss’s favor. ” When people ask me about my time working at Diddy, I always tell them that it was the worst experience I’ve ever had in my life,” Mr. E. shared.
So, before applying to Diddy’s company, many people had heard bad rumors. However, many employees still said that they were used to the rapper’s way of working. As for the work pressure, stressful hours, pressure from the boss,… at Diddy’s companies, all employees agree.
