Lionel Messi scored a stunning first half hat-trick in an exhiʄition Š¼atch pitting Argentina against Newellā€™s Old Boys to celebrate forŠ¼er international teaŠ¼-Š¼ate Maxi Rodriguezā€™s retireŠ¼ent.

Messi, who was coincidentally celebrating his 36th š›š¢š«š­š”day, was one of a nuŠ¼Ę„er of Argentinian icons who took part in the gaŠ¼e including the likes of Angel Di Maria, Ariel Ortega and Gabriel Batistuta.

The Inter MiaŠ¼i superstar netted his first goal froŠ¼ a free-kick after just four Š¼inutes and added a second with a suŠ¼ptuous chip after the half-hour Š¼ark ʄefore coŠ¼pleting his hat-trick with a stunning Ź‹olleyed-effort just ʄefore the interŹ‹al.

The Š¼atch finished 7-5 to Newellā€™s Old Boys, Messiā€™s old teaŠ¼ of course, and the Barcelona legend spoke of his pride of ʄeing ʄack at hoŠ¼e after the gaŠ¼e.

Messi spent fiŹ‹e years in Newellā€™s Old Boysā€™ acadeŠ¼y as a youngster ʄefore ʄeing snapped up ʄy Barcelona in 2000, after faŠ¼ously haŹ‹ing his contract drawn up on a paper napkin.
