Ghana and Charlotte FC defender, Harrison Afful had his moment with arguably the greatest player of all-time, Lionel Messi, during the Leagues Cup game against Inter Miami.
The veteran full-back walked to Messi at the end of the match to exchange jerseys with the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner.
Afful started the game before he was replaced with four minutes remaining as Charlotte suffered a 4-0 defeat at the DRV PNK Stadium.
In a video which has since gone viral on social media, Afful seems to have enjoyed his brief moment with Messi as he congratulated the Argentine for Miami’s victory.

Meanwhile, Inter Miami got off to a blistering start after Josef Martínez converted from the spot in the 12th minute before Robert Thomas Taylor double the lead after connecting to a DeAndre Yedlin cross.
After the break, Adilson Malanda extended Miami’s lead with an own goal before Messi put the icing on the cake with four minutes remaining, as reported by Bleacher Report.
Afful’s compatriot and Charlotte’s budding star Patrick Agyemang came on in the second-half but could not stop the rampan Miami from progressing to the semi-final of the competition.
