Lil Kim has been a constant target for disrespect throughout her career. In the eyes of many, she’s the Queen of Hip-Hop, paving the way for many other female rappers that have followed. However, some don’t see it for the Brooklyn bombshell and have made snide remarks about everything from her music to her looks. But Lil Kim has friends in high places that won’t tolerate the disrespect, including Mary J. Blige.
An example of someone that continues to throw shade at Lil Kim is 50 Cent. The rapper and Power executive producer took to social media recently to cause quite the drama after Lil Kim dropped her remix to Megan Thee Stallion’s “Plan B.” After the song was released, Fif tried to instigate beef between the rapper and Nicki Minaj, and brought their children into the mix. 50 Cent insulted Lil Kim’s daughter’s eye in his statement, which drew significant reactions from her, her daughter’s father, and fans. But this is just the latest in the timeline of their beef.
But speaking of Nicki Minaj, the relationship between herself and Lil Kim has not been the greatest. It would appear that there is no love between the two, and Nicki Minaj’s fanbase has indeed taken aim at the Brooklyn rapper. If you take a quick look and do a Twitter search, you will notice unsolicited and unprovoked comments toward Lil Kim from the Barbz. It could only take a simple mention that praises the “Queen Bee,” and the Barbz will come swirling.
Another person who appeared to take jabs at Lil Kim’s looks is comedian Eric Andre. While not much has been said about his remarks, rapper Azealia Banks erupted on social media over alleged disrespectful comments toward the rapper. Banks dedicated a couple of her Instagram Stories in January of this year, questioning why Eric Andre would defame Lil Kim on social media while insulting his parents. Additionally, she questioned why it has been “culturally okay to mistreat Lil Kim for decades.”
Bhad Bhabie also came out of the side of her mouth to include Lil Kim in one of her rants. While trying to defend herself against constant accusations of blackfishing, the social media personality went Live and compared her situation to Lil Kim, saying that she surgically transformed to become “a white woman.” And who could forget the moment when Lil Kim presented an award alongside Diana Ross? It was the 1999 MTV VMA’s where “I Can Love You” collaborators Mary J. Blige and Lil Kim were tasked to present an award, and the legendary Ms. Ross appeared. But when the former lead singer of The Supremes fondled the rapper’s exposed breast in a playful gesture, it didn’t sit well with Blige.
During an interview with Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live, Mary J. Blige praised Lil Kim as a “trailblazer” in Hip-Hop. However, the “Good Morning Gorgeous” singer expressed that during that moment, she was “embarrassed” and “pissed” for her sister. In the moment, viewers may notice Mary J. Blige’s body language is off following the interaction. However, Lil Kim appears to laugh it off and embrace the legendary singer. Mary J. Blige explained that the rapper is “courageous” and is going to be authentic to who she is at all times. “I think we all should respect her like we respect [Megan Thee Stallion]… Nicki Minaj, and Cardi,” said Mary J. Blige.
