We already knew that Selena Gomez was a fashion risk-taker, she of rocking monochrome sweatsuits and bold yellow duster coats like it ain’t no thang. But the lady’s latest sartorial venture is one we truly never saw coming. While performing yet another sold out show this weekend, this time in Australia, Selena emerged in a custom white corset dress by Aussie designer Dion Lee that provided a (ahem) revealing moment for the newly 24-year-old star.

As you can see below, a sky-high slit in the skirt reveals the pop singer’s white panties (to match her dress—she loves monochrome!) in a move that’s not so much a peep as it is a full-on pop of skin and underwear.

This, of course, isn’t the first time we’ve seen one of our leading style girls flashing her undies in a custom dress: Bella Hadid pulled the same maneuver on the Cannes red carpet in an Alexander Vauthier Couture number that almost caused the wardrobe malfunction heard round the world, thanks to a swarm of paparazzi and some pesky wind. So maybe, just maybe, this is the sleeper-hit trend of the summer we never expected—it does seem like a great way to stay cool in a heat dome. And hey, if we can free the undies, we can free the nipple!
