Ten Hag Optimistic: Sancho’s Determination to Reach New Heights in the 2023/24 Season Captivates Fans
United manager Erik ten Hag believes Jadon Sancho is in a much better state of mind but has challenged the winger to improve his scoring ability further.
The Dutch strategist explained that Sancho has had a better mentality than last year, when he was withdrawn from MU for 2 months to focus on improving his physical and mental health.
However, he admits the £74m striker still needs to score more goals and add more assists.
“At the moment, he is having a euphoria,” coach Ten Hag said in an interview with the Daily Mail. “He will decide for himself the form, the mood and the excitement. I hope and expect him to improve even more.”
“Jadon has a lot of energy, we’ve all seen that since the moment he came back. He wants to enjoy football and will be successful. He has perfect skill but needs to show a certain level of performance. stable way to be able to contribute more to the team. Jadon needs to have more goals and assists.”
Sancho has only contributed to 18 goals (12 goals and 6 assists) in his first two seasons with Man United. This is a significant drop from Sancho’s time with Dortmund, where he contributed 76 goals in the previous two seasons.
However, coach Ten Hag said he does not think Sancho is playing in a different way than at Dortmund before. “I watched many games at Dortmund and Jadon is not another player at Dortmund like when he was at MU. But obviously he doesn’t have the same consistency as before,” Ten Hag said.
