Andre Onana of Manchester United is one of five players vying for The Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper honor in 2023.
The Cameroonian international’s nomination is largely due to his excellent season with Internazionale last season, during which he helped the Serie A team advance all the way to the Champions League final before putting up a strong performance—albeit unsuccessful—against Manchester City in Istanbul.
His first two United games, against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Tottenham, do, however, fall within the time frame being considered, which is from 19 December 2022 to 20 August 2023.

In the 2023 Champions League final, “Onana produced one of the standout goalkeeping performances of the year, making a string of stunning saves and impressing with his pinpoint distribution,” according to FIFA.com. “Even though his team ultimately lost to Manchester City 1-0, he strengthened his standing as one of the best goalkeepers in the world.
