United are severely short-handed at left back due to injuries to Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw, as well as the loaning out of Brandon Williams to Ipswich. 

Diogo Dalot played poorly in a substitute role in Saturday’s 3-2 win against Nottingham Forest, and Erik ten Hag likely doesn’t want that performance to dampen the club’s aspirations. 

According to The Telegraph, United has made a preliminary inquiry to Chelsea about loaning Marc Cucurella.

After signing from Brighton for £60 million this past summer, Cucurella has found himself out of the starting lineup for the Blues now that Ben Chilwell is healthy and thriving. 

He is yet to make an appearance in the Premier League this season, since Chilwell’s backup, Ian Maatsen, has been outstanding. 

Alonso, who Barcelona had trouble registering in LaLiga owing to their financial troubles, has reportedly received interest from United.

After joining Barca last summer, rumors have circulated that Alonson wants to remain a Catalan club.  

They are also considering Spurs’ Reguilon. He was on loan to Atletico Madrid for the entire previous season.

All three are national team members for Spain and have played in the Premier League before, with Alonso having won both the Premier League and the Champions League with another club.

Manchester United enquire about Chelsea flop

The visitors took an unexpecteԀ early lead at Old Trafford with two goals, but Erik ten Hag’s team responded with three unanswered goals to secure all three points.

United have been lackluster so far this season, and last week Ten Hag was handed a setback when left defender Luke Shaw was injured and would be out for several weeks.

It now appears as though the Manchester club is considering making a surprise transfer for a player from one of its rivals, following the aforementioned revelation.

United have reportedly asked Chelsea if fullback Marc Cucurella is available, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.

According to the Italian journalist, the Red Devils have contacted their rivals about a prospective loan deal for the Spanish player.Cucurella, 25, had a rough first season with Chelsea after being acquired from Brighton and Hove Albion for a reported £60 million last summer.

The former Seagulls player made 33 total appearances last season, but is yet to make an appearance this year after receiving criticism for his play on the left side of defense.

After moving to Brighton from Getafe in Spain, Cucurella excelled in his first season.

After making 38 appearances for the club in all competitions, he was signed after interest from Premier League champions Manchester City.

According to Romano, United has already narrowed their search for Shaw’s replacement down to three potential candidates. The Manchester club is reportedly hoping to find a low-cost replacement.

Shaw’s contributions to United in recent years have been crucial, as seen by his more than 120 appearances for the club over the last three seasons.
