Juventus fans invade pitch and protest against signing of Romelu Lukaku

uventus fans have invaded the pitch at the Allianz Stadium to protest against the signing of Romelu Lukaku.

The Bianconeri have been heavily linked with the out-of-favour Chelsea striker but the supporters do not want the deal to happen because of his links to Inter Milan.

Lukaku signed for Inter in 2019 and scored 64 goals in 95 games, helping them win Serie A under Antonio Conte.

He returned on loan last term after a dismal second spell back at Chelsea, who had paid a massive £97.5 million fee.

With Mauricio Pochettino confirming he is not in his plans, Juve officials have been exploring ending his Stamford Bridge nightmare and offering him an escape route.

But in the 8-0 win against their reserve side on Wednesday, the club supporters made their opposition known, storming the pitch to chant, “Don’t sign Lukaku!”.

It follows on from a banner telling the Belgian to avoid joining the club. The Curva Sud group unveiled the message, which read “Lukaku stay in Milan, we already have a second goalkeeper.”

That particular comment was in reference to his him blocking Federico Dimarco’s goal-bound effort in the Champions League final defeat against Manchester City.

Anti-Lukaku chants had already broken it in the stands before a large number of fans made their way onto the playing surface and led to stewards forming a shield near the tunnel.

Striker Dusan Vlahovic scored in the rout amid links he could be heading to Chelsea as part of a deal for Lukaku. The latest from Fabrizio Romano is that Chelsea have “no intention” of doing a deal whereby Vlahovic is used as a makeweight.

Lukaku was recently approached by an Inter fan who told him to refrain from saying ‘Forza Juventus” if he signs for the Turin outfit.

In response, Lukaku replied: “No no never. I don’t think the deal will go through.”

Romelu Lukaku has made a promise to an Inter Milan fan who asked him about his move to Juventus.

Lukaku has been heavily linked with the Bianconeri after Inter elected against signing him permanently following a stint on loan last season.

Belgium’s record goalscorer is currently still a Chelsea player and contracted until 2026 after returning to the club for a massive £97.5m fee but is not part of Mauricio Pochettino’s plans and was left at home for the pre-season tour of the United States.

He is on the lookout for a new club and Juventus emerged as potential suitors – something which was met by widespread opposition from the club’s fans.

Some even staged a protest over the possible signing. Things have gone quiet, though a new report from Corriere dello Sport claims Juve haven’t given up on acquiring Lukaku.

However, the man himself addressed the rumours after being approached by an Inter fan outside the Brussels sports centre.

Lukaku has been training at the base and briefly conversed with the Nerazzurri supporter, who told him, “See if you sign at Juventus, never say Forza Juventus.”

The former Manchester United man indicated that the transfer won’t be happening. Climbing back into his car, Lukaku replied: “No no never. I don’t think the deal will go through.”

Lukaku recently posted a cryptic message on Instagram, captioning a post, “When the hate don’t work they start telling lies….” in what many deemed to be a dig at media speculation suggesting Inter don’t want him and that his teammates have given him the cold shoulder.

The stance of Inter ultras couldn’t be clearer though, as they reacted furiously to news of him speaking to Juve and accused him of “betraying” the club.

A statement read: “Those who betrayed you will do it again, not because they enjoy it, but because it falls within their nature.

“Yes, because you Romelu betrayed all of us, who defended you to the sword during your difficult period.”

“We defended you when the fans of the team that sought you mocked you, now you repay us with a stab worthy of Brutus.

“You kissed the badge that is worth more than our lives to us and now like a vile cheap mercenary you’re selling yourself to the highest bidder.

“Before being a champion you have to be a man. And you’re not.”

Lukaku has also received reported interest from the Saudi Pro League and turned down a lucrative offer last month.
